Usually MR-16 lamp is using halogen lamp that is very hot in temperature
Mostly MR-16 halogen lamp is using 12 VDC/VAC electricity
Because the filament is thicker, so it can have a longer life time
In this case, a transformer is needed to convert the AC electricity into a lower AC/DC electricity

If we are using an MR-16 LED lighting with 220/240 VAC electricity
No need to have a separate transformer
